Aaron Eckhart: I need quiet time

Aaron Eckhart stars in I, Frankenstein

Aaron Eckhart has revealed how he gets away from it all - by staring at trees and rocks.

The I, Frankenstein actor, who has enjoyed roles in Erin Brockovich, The Dark Knight and Rabbit Hole, said that he is used to travelling around the globe for work.

But when he wraps a movie, the 45-year-old looks forward to escaping to his ranch in Montana.

"After I've finished a movie I'll go to my place in Montana and look at a tree or a rock for a long time," Aaron said.

"It brings me away from the craziness of having to perform, not that I dislike it, but having to be 'on' all the time is very tiresome and demanding.

"It's not my natural personality, and I feel as though there, I can be myself."

Aaron, who lived in California until he was 13, when his family moved to the UK, takes on the role of Frankenstein's monster (christened Adam) in his new film.

"In the cinematic history of Frankenstein, the monster has become a lumbering cumbersome being that really can't get a word out, and we wanted to stay away from that," said the actor.

"For me, the primary reason I did the film was because it's about a man looking for his purpose in life."

He added: "People are looking for love. Everyone wants that reason to live. Time on earth is important."

:: I, Frankenstein is in cinemas now.

Leo:

Trust your intuition about a domestic matter. If you think it's time to get a new place, start looking for one. You could find a home that cultivates tranquillity and relaxation. Escaping the fray will be a relief. Although you enjoy socialising, you also crave private time. Being able to watch movies, read books and listen to music replenishes your batteries. A needy relative could request help. This would be a good time to establish some healthy boundaries. Stop dropping everything for this relative's benefit.More
