Al Pacino: I can be a funny guy

Al Pacino has said he likes to think of himself as funny, but most people think of him as the Godfather.

The 73-year-old actor was a stand-up comedian when he started out in showbusiness, and is now an Oscar-winning actor, best known for playing Michael Corleone in The Godfather trilogy.

Pacino told the TV Times: "That was a long time ago, but I hope I'm still funny. I think I am.

"I get caught up in this tragedian thing but there's humour in most roles - although Michael Corleone, the Godfather wasn't a funny guy and I think that's the impression that comes into most people's minds about me.

"But when you look at the movies I've made, some of them are funny... But not the successful ones!"

The actor believes it is important not to confuse fame with success.

He said: "You have to learn how to deal with your position in the celebrity world. I think that's why some people endure and others don't.

"There's fame and then there's success. Success is kind of great but then you couple it with fame and it gets a little confusing.

"I just feel lucky. When I think back, I don't know if I'd do anything different."
