Alec Baldwin for Howard Hughes film
Alec Baldwin has joined the cast of Warren Beatty's film about Howard Hughes.
Warren will play Hughes in the as-yet-untitled film, which also stars his wife Annette Bening, Martin Sheen and Matthew Broderick.
Alec will play Hughes' lawyer Bob Maheu according to Deadline. Despite being his senior lawyer, Maheu is said never to have met the reclusive billionaire and received all his instructions on hand-written notes. A spy during WWII, he worked for the CIA and ultimately testified in the Senate about Hughes giving money to Hubert Humphrey and Richard Nixon. He also sued and won a defamation lawsuit against Hughes in his later years.
Production is already under way on the project and Alec reportedly shot his role over just two days.
While little is known about the plot, it is thought to focus on Hughes' assistant (played by Alden Ehrenreich) and his actress love interest (Lily Collins).
Warren will also produce and direct the film, which has been in the works for over 25 years.
