A castle that has played a central role in the tumultuous history of Ulster is now about to face an attack from would-be conquerors of a different kind.

For eight centuries, Carrickfergus Castle has stood as an enduring symbol of military might, defeating Scots, Irish, English and French troops.

But it has never faced space invaders before.

The 10th century castle will make a cameo appearance in the latest movie to be filmed in Northern Ireland, Our Robot Overlords.

The sci-fi flick stars The Fall star Gillian Anderson and Oscar winner Ben Kingsley in a battle against robots from another galaxy who have conquered the Earth.

Filming will close the castle from June 24-28, except to pre-booked tours or school visits.

Environment Minister Alex Attwood welcomed the move: “One of our most impressive built heritage assets will now be showcased to both a local and global market.”

Sagittarius:

Working in isolation doesn't suit you. You're a social creature who gets your best ideas when collaborating with others. Unfortunately, that's not possible right now. Resign yourself to this difficult situation. If you do a good job, you'll pave the way for bigger and better assignments. Part of the problem is you lack experience. The only way to get the training you need is to do some volunteer work. Making a temporary sacrifice will eventually pay off. Be patient.More
