Allen's film trip to Rhode Island

Woody Allen is to shoot his next film in Rhode Island.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker is headed to the New England state for his upcoming movie, with Rhode Island's Film and Television Office confirming the news to the Providence Journal.

Boston-based CP Casting is holding auditions for actors to join stars Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix in the film, which is expected to start shooting in July.

While details about the storyline and cast are being kept under wraps, the film is

described as a "contemporary story" featuring academics and graduate students.

Woody, who has enjoyed filming around Europe in recent years with movies like Midnight In Paris, To Rome With Love and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, shot Blue Jasmine, starring Cate Blanchett, in San Francisco.

His next film, Magic In The Moonlight, is set in the 20s on the French Riviera and stars Emma and Colin Firth. It is expected to be released later this year.
