Andy Garcia joins Max Steel movie

Andy Garcia has signed up for live-action movie Max Steel.

The Rob The Mob star will play a scientist in the superhero adventure, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

He joins Ben Winchell and Ana Villafane in the film.

Max Steel is based on the Mattel superhero toy line and follows teenager Max McGrath, who teams up with a powerful alien called Steel to save the world. Together they become the superhero Max Steel.

Dolphin Films CEO Bill O'Dowd said they were "ecstatic to be working with legendary actor Andy Garcia" on the project.

"Dr Miles Edwards is a very complicated character, and he is central to the entire mythology of Max Steel," he continued. "The role requires a truly talented actor, and there is no one more qualified than Andy to tackle it."

Stewart Hendler is directing Max Steel.
