Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher catches up on all the news in Northern
Ireland ahead of today's launch of the soap's first ever Extravaganza in the
province.
Up to 25 members of the award-winning soap will be taking part in the
one-day charity event at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra on
Saturday, June 7, supported by the Belfast Telegraph.
The fundraising bonanza for the Anthony Nolan Trust has taken place in
Aberdeen for the last seven years, but because of the popularity of the ITV
soap in Northern Ireland, it was decided to move it here this year.
A number of cast members joined event organiser George Walker and the show's
producer Timothy Fee for the launch at the Culloden Hotel today.
Among the actors who flew into the province for the launch were Dominic
Brunt, who plays vet Paddy Kirk, Georgia Slowe, who plays Perdy
Hyde-Sinclair, Christopher Villiers (Grayson Sinclair) and Christoper
Chittell (Eric Pollard).
Kelvin, whose character Andy has just been sentenced to prison for three
years for killing his mother in a barn fire, is one of the cast members
planning to come to Cultra in June. Kelvin has taken part in previous
Emmerdale Extravaganzas, which see the stars and the general public take
part in a number of fundraising activities, such as abseils, fun runs and
fashion shows.
This year the celebrities will be swopping the safe environs of the Woolpack
to participate in the Go Loopy Aircraft Challenge, under the watchful eye of
former Red Arrows members.
