Yet another superhero film
Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman, Jae Head, Eddie Marsan
Nothing to do with our most lugubrious comic, Tony of that ilk, this is the very different American comic Smith making something of a return to comedy.
In a summer of superhero movies, he plays one who has fallen in the public approval ratings and attempts an image make-over.
It is an attempt at something akin to Men in Black territory but unfortunately heads towards message movie territory near the end.
The director is Peter Berg, on a roll after the superb Lions for Lambs three-ring circus conversation movie about the state of America and the war, and the script is from relative newcomers, both called Vincent, Gilligan and Ngo, who have a lot of credits including TV's X Files.
Now showing at cinemas across Northern Ireland.
