Astronauts praise Gravity Oscar win

Sandra Bullock stars in Gravity, which won several Oscars

NASA astronauts have congratulated the Gravity cast and crew on their Oscar triumph.

Alfonso Cuaron's space drama, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, scooped seven prizes including best director for the filmmaker, best cinematography and best visual effects.

Astronauts Mike Hopkins, Cady Coleman and Mike Massimino sent video messages with their good wishes from the International Space Station, reported Variety.

Mike said: "Up here, 260 miles above Earth, we know a little bit about gravity and the lack of gravity."

Fellow NASA astronaut Mike said he enjoyed the movie, particularly for portraying the look and feel of space accurately. "It brought back a lot of memories," he added.

The space agency said: "NASA congratulates everyone involved with producing the movie Gravity for all of the Oscar wins, especially Alfonso Cuaron for winning best director at the 86th Academy Awards Ceremony held on March 2, 2014."
