Ayoade's Double gets release date

Richard Ayoade's new film The Double has been picked up by Canadian distributor D Films for release next winter.

Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska star in the comedy and have since become a couple after meeting on the project.

The Double is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Toronto-based D Films is planning to release the film in cinemas in winter 2014, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The IT Crowd star and director Richard has co-written the script, based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella about a Russian government clerk whose life is turned upside down when a man who looks just like him, with the same name and from the same hometown, gets a job in his office and he believes him to be a copy of himself.

Jesse stars as a mediocre man driven to the brink of an emotional breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. Mia plays the woman of his dreams who shows no interest in him.
