Bakula on his Emmy night nerves

Scott Bakula has confessed he'll probably be battling the nerves as the Emmys draw closer.

The former Quantum Leap star is nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Mini-Series Or Movie award for his performance in Behind The Candelabra.

Asked if he is looking forward to the ceremony on September 22, he said: "Yeah, you know, the last Emmy nomination I had was 20 years ago for Quantum Leap. I'm sure when it gets closer, I'll be nervous about it.

"Every once in a while you get nominated for these things and they tell you beforehand that you've won it, and somehow that's nicer than having to sit in front of the world, win or lose. But it's great for the movie, and all the acknowledgement that it got, it was a great piece and we worked hard."

Scott, 58, said he had a great time making the movie, which also stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon and was directed by Steven Soderbergh.

He said: "Steven is a gifted, gifted film-maker, and Matt, not only is he a great actor, he's a lot of fun to be with on the set, as is Michael Douglas. We just laughed a lot.

"I feel fortunate to represent the movie, but anybody could have had the nomination, it could have been Dan Ackroyd or Rob Lowe or Tom Pappas... Everybody in the movie was great, I thought the casting directors did a fantastic job."

:: Scott can be seen in Star Trek: Enterprise, weeknights at 8pm on CBS Action.
