Ben Barnes has reportedly landed the lead role in The Seventh Son.

The Prince Caspian star could be taking over from fellow British actor Sam Claflin in Sergey Bodrov's historical drama, said Variety.

Based on Joseph Delaney's The Last Apprentice series, The Seventh Son centres on Tom, who discovers he has the power to see evil creatures and trains to become a Spook to fight them.

Jeff Bridges would play Master Gregory, a veteran witch-hunter who trains Tom, while Julianne Moore is lined up as the villainous Mother Malkin, a vampire who hunts down young women to keep her youth.

Rising Swedish actress Alicia Vikander would play Alice, who joins Tom in his life-changing journey.

Production is set to begin in coming months.

Ben, who last appeared in Killing Bono, is currently taking a break after treading the West End stage boards in Trevor Nunn's Birdsong, where he played World War I soldier Stephen Wraysford.

Sagittarius:

Beware of spending beyond your means. Sticking to a budget will help you survive the festive season relatively unscathed. It will be easier than you think to let your grip on the purse strings slip especially as the big day draws near. Let Christmas be about loving, sharing and giving. Spend quality time preparing food, making decorations and playing games together. If you haven't sent all your cards or round robin emails give some thought about what you will be sharing with others this year.More
