Beckham to join Secret Service?

David Beckham could be headed to the big screen following reports he has been offered a part in spy thriller The Secret Service.

The footballer is said to be considering the cameo role in the comic-book movie, which will star Colin Firth and Sir Michael Caine and will be directed by Matthew Vaughn, reported The Sun.

A source said: "Becks was asked by Colin Firth if he'd like to be in the movie but he is yet to fully commit.

"He loves movies and fancies appearing on the big screen - but just as a one-off, not a full-time career."

The movie adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbon's graphic novel will see Colin play a veteran secret agent who enrols his nephew (Taron Egerton) into a British spy school.

Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote are said to be in the running to take the female lead, although no formal talks have taken place, and Samuel L Jackson is tipped to play the villain.

Shooting on The Secret Service, which has been adapted by Matthew and his writing partner Jane Goldman, is expected to start in the autumn, in time for a 2014 release.
