Bell dives into Lifeguard role

Kristen Bell will play a reporter turned lifeguard in her latest movie

Kristen Bell has signed up for the lead in indie drama The Lifeguard.

The Couples Retreat actress will play a woman who abandons her job as a journalist in New York and heads back to her suburban hometown to take up her high school job as a lifeguard, reports Deadline.

When she gets back home the woman ends up getting involved with a troubled teenager.

Mamie Gummer, Martin Starr and Alex Shaffer will also star in the movie, which was penned and will be directed by Liz W Garcia.

Kristen - who also played a reporter in this year's family drama Big Miracle - can next be seen in action comedy Hit And Run, which was written and co-directed by her fiance Dax Shepard.
