Jack Black has been rumoured to be cast as John Belushi in a new film about his life.
Warner Bros recently acquired the rights from Belushi's estate to the story of the legendary comedian, who died of a drugs overdose in 1982 at the age of 33.
The Pursuit Of Happyness screenwriter Steven Conrad and The Hangover director-producer Todd Phillips are developing the biographical film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It's not yet known who will play the late star, who shot to fame as one of the original performers on Saturday Night Live, alongside comedy greats such as Dan Ackroyd but Jack, and The Hangover Star Zach Galifianakis have been suggested.
Belushi's films included Animal House and The Blues Brothers but he was also famous for his wild partying.
Conrad will script the project and Phillips will produce, though he has not yet committed to directing the film. Belushi's widow Judith, who published Belushi: A Biography, on her husband in 2005, will be an executive producer on the project.
Belushi's life was previously turned into a 1989 film, Wired, based on the book by Bob Woodward.
