Ben Stiller could star in the Hollywood remake of Rentaghost.
The Tropic Thunder star is said to be in talks to take the lead role of Fred Mumford, in the big-screen adaptation of the 80s TV series, reported Variety.
Recently deceased slacker Fred, who is determined to be more productive as a corpse than he was during his life, sets himself up in a business with a couple of other ghosts, starting a temp agency renting out the ghouls and ghosts to the living, before plans go awry.
Funnyman Russell Brand had previously been tipped to star and take on the role of executive producer on the "Beetlejuice-style afterlife comedy", which Warner Bros has acquired the rights to.
The original TV series, created by Bob Block, aired on BBC One for eight years until 1984.
