Bill Paxton to direct The Bottoms

Bill Paxton is returning to directing for the first time in nine years.

The US actor will take the reins on The Bottoms, reported Deadline.

It will be his first time behind the cameras since 2005 golf film The Greatest Game Ever Played.

The Bottoms is an adaptation of author Joe Lansdale's book about a man and his two children in Texas who find the body of a black woman who was mutilated and left to die.

The people of the town cover up the crime until the body of a white woman is found in similar circumstances and the family must try to find the truth.

Bill, 58, is best known for acting in movies such as Apollo 13 and Twister and also starred in the TV series Big Love.
