Cate Blanchett is being linked to a new Cinderella film

Cate Blanchett could be set to star in the new Cinderella movie as the evil stepmother, according to reports.

The Wrap said that the Australian actress is in negotiations for the new adaptation of the classic fairytale.

None of the cast have been officially announced for the film, set to be directed by Never Let Me Go filmmaker Mark Romanek.

Produced by X Men's Simon Kinberg, the Untitled Cinderella Story is based on a script by About A Boy director Chris Weitz.

Cate will soon be on our screens in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and opposite Daniel Craig and George Clooney in The Monuments Men.
