Bobby Cannavale is the latest actor to join the cast of Jay Z's Annie musical.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis has been cast as Annie alongside Jamie Foxx as a modern reimagining of millionaire adoptive father Daddy Warbucks, called Benjamin Stacks.

Boardwalk Empire star Bobby will play a bulldog political adviser to Foxx's character as he makes a mayoral run in New York, Deadline reported.

Cameron Diaz will play mean orphanage manager Miss Hannigan and Rose Byrne has been cast as Grace, the assistant of the Daddy Warbucks character.

Will Gluck is directing the remake of the 1982 movie, with all new music composed by Jay Z.

The rapper and Will Smith will be among the producers.

The film is due out on Christmas Day 2014.
