Bowen: Kids fought over Planes toys
Julie Bowen has revealed that her latest role - voicing an air tanker - was such a hit with her sons they kept fighting over the toys.
The Modern Family actress voices Lil' Dipper in Planes: Fire And Rescue, the follow up to last year's much-loved animated adventure, Planes, and her three kids with husband Scott Phillips - Oliver, seven, and five-year-old twins John and Gustav - all wanted to play with the same action figure.
"I had my toy Dipper and then the kids fought over it, so they (Disney) sent three more," she revealed.
"And then they sent the full set. I can't believe they were playing with the full set and they didn't even know who these people were yet. They loved it. It's great."
Julie, who has won Emmy awards for her portrayal of harried mum Claire Dunphy in the US series, said her sons approved of her new role.
"I have gotten so many cool points! My kids can't give a rat's patootie about Modern Family. They're very, very excited [about the Planes movie]," she said. "They already have the little action figure and they get so excited when they see the posters. They make me stop and take pictures."
The 44-year-old actress said joining the sequel was 'plane' sailing because she already had some prior knowledge of the Planes universe.
"I happen to know everything about the Cars and Planes world because I've got three boys. One thing I've learnt having kids, is they don't watch a movie once, they watch it as many times as they're allowed to press play if they like it," she said.
:: Planes: Fire & Rescue is released in cinemas on August 1 in Scotland and across the rest of the UK on August 8.
