Boyle in talks for King biopic

Danny Boyle is reportedly preparing to direct a film about tennis star Billie Jean King.

The Slumdog Millionaire director is said to be in New York for talks with Billie and other members of the film crew, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and producer Christian Colson are thought to be working on the project with him, which will focus on Billie's famous Battle Of The Sexes triumph over Bobby Riggs in 1973.

Page Six reported last summer that Danny had been to a screening of a documentary about Billie around the time that Wimbledon was taking place and suggested that the project had been in the pipeline since then.

He has previously worked on biographical film 127 Hours which told the story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's accident which saw him trapped under a boulder for days and forced to cut his own arm off.

Danny's comedy drama Babylon, a satire about London's police force, was launched on Channel 4 earlier this month and has been commissioned for a six-part series.
