Boyle set to make Porno
Friday, 11 September 2009
Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle is “edging” closer to making Porno, the sequel to his hit movie Trainspotting, the actor Robert Carlyle has said.
Carlyle, who played Begbie in the 1996 film, told the BBC he would “jump through hoops of fire backwards” for Boyle, and would be happy to star in Porno for free.
The Scottish actor said he thought there was plenty of mileage in Begbie's character and he would be happy to revisit the role.
”I think there is lots more entertainment to be had from that group of people so I would be up for it, and I know Danny seems to be edging more towards it,” he said.
Trainspotting, adapted from Irvine Welsh's dark novel about the Edinburgh heroin scene in the 1980s, won the best film Bafta and made stars of Boyle, Carlyle and Ewan McGregor, who played the main character, Mark Renton.
In the follow-up novel Porno, Welsh picks up the same group of characters 10 years later.

Porno is a great novel and I would love to see how it would convert to a film. Please make it with the original Trainspotting cast though.

Trainspotting was brought out at the same time I was thinking of moving to Edinbirgh. I was 18 years old. The movie is one of the best EVER made. It is like FRIENDS on heroin. Terminator with slightly less special effects!

I would love to see a Trainspotting 'sequel' being made, even just to see how mad Begbie is these days. At the same time, I may be happier just to live in blissful ignorance because 'Porno' would need to be good, very good, to top Trainspotting. Maybe it would be best to just leave it alone. But, it would be really good to see it. But, it might ruin it. Yes, make it.

Brilliant, then he should make a film version of Glue.

I nearly fainted when I saw the headline I thought it was about Susan Boyle.
