Brad kills them softly at Cannes

Brad Pitt signed autographs as he attended the premiere of his new film

Brad Pitt fans went wild when the superstar arrived at the premiere of his new film in Cannes.

The Hollywood star, looking dapper in a black tuxedo and a pair of sunglasses, with his blond hair loose around his shoulders, sent fans into raptures as he paced quickly up and down the lines of fans bordering the pavement at the film festival, signing autographs.

Angelina Jolie, Brad's long-term partner with whom he has six children, was not on the red carpet with him at the festival in the French Riviera resort because of prior commitments.

He had earlier in the day quashed rumours they had set a date for their wedding. He said: "We have no date. We actually really, truly have no date."

The Fight Club star, who plays mob enforcer Jackie Cogan in director Andrew Dominik's new film Killing Them Softly, appeared on the red carpet with co-star Ray Liotta as well as the director Dominik and producer Dede Gardner.

Brad, who also produced Killing Them Softly, posed for photographers before standing at the top of the steep staircase at the entrance to the Palais des Festivals and waving at the hundreds of fans who had gathered around the building, causing them to scream wildly.

His role as the brutal Cogan is not just a gangster story but a commentary on modern living, he said.

He is hired to hunt down and punish a gang of petty thieves who turned over a lucrative poker game, and Brad said he was interested in the film because he was looking for stories that "say something about our time and who we are".

He said his character killed people in the best way possible, hence the title of the film, as was dictated by his occupation

"He wanted to get the job done and put people through the least pain," Brad added.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
