Brad Pitt has dropped out of the thriller The Gray Man, according to reports.

The Hollywood star was said to be in talks for the lead role of a CIA-agent turned assassin in James Gray's thriller, based on Mark Greaney's novel.

The Wrap reporter Jeff Sneider tweeted: "Brad Pitt no longer attached to star in The Gray Man for New Regency. Director James Gray seeking new leading man..."

Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper has quit the movie Jane Got A Gun.

The Western, which stars Natalie Portman, has lost one director, Lynne Ramsey, while Michael Fassbender and Jude Law also dropped out in recent months.

According to Deadline, Bradley confirmed his exit in a statement, saying: "Regretfully, due to date conflicts between the film I an currently shooting for David O Russell (American Hustle) and Jane Got A Gun, I am unable to join Natalie, Joel (Edgerton), Noah (Emmerich) and Gavin (O'Connor) on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future."
