Bradley Cooper for cop thriller

Bradley Cooper has signed up to star in crime thriller American Blood.

Warner Bros has signed a preemptive deal for the film rights to a upcoming novel by New Zealand-based bestselling author Ben Sanders.

Bradley is attached to star and produce through his 22nd And Indiana banner, Deadline reported.

The American Hustle star will play Marshall Grade, an undercover New York police officer turned mob informant.

While living in the witness protection scheme in New Mexico, he is pulled into a dangerous investigation involving a missing woman, which leads his old mob associates to find out where he is hiding.

The book - the first in a planned series - will be publishing in autumn 2015. Warner Bros reportedly won a bidding war for the rights to the 50-page proposal for the story.

The book will be adapted by Andrew Sodroski, whose script Holland, Michigan topped the Black List and who also wrote Vor V Zakone for Warner Bros.
