Josh Brolin has confirmed he was in the running to play Batman in the Man Of Steel sequel.
The Labour Day star was linked to the coveted role before it was revealed that Ben Affleck would be the caped crusader, and he has now told The Huffington Post that he had been a contender.
Asked if he had spoken to director Zack Snyder about the part, Josh said: "We did. I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea.
"It just didn't turn out. It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben."
The internet has been buzzing since Ben was cast, with critics suggesting the Argo star isn't right for the part.
Josh said he has felt for Ben following the backlash.
"I just feel for anybody who gets lambasted at that level," he said. "I want him to kick a** and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words."
Man Of Steel 2, which sees Superman face off with Batman, will be released in 2015.
