Brydon: Coogan warmer in real life
Rob Brydon insists Steve Coogan is "much warmer" in real life than when he plays himself on screen.
The two actors play themselves in the dark comedy The Trip, directed by Michael Winterbottom and due to be broadcast later this year, and Rob insists Steve is very different in reality.
The Gavin And Stacey star revealed: "He's a lot warmer in real life, that's the big difference in the show, there's not the warmth that exists between us."
Rob went on to joke that you could even give Steve a cuddle if you went about it in the right way.
He said: "I think if you approach him from the right angle he could be quite amenable."
The improvised comedy, which sees the two men travelling round the Lake District together, shows them clashing as the compete against one another, but Rob insists their relationship is not really like that.
He said: "I suppose the shtick we do is we're competitors, or particularly that I'm competitive with him which in reality isn't the case.
"The reality of our relationship which is what you don't see on TV, on TV there's no warmth, and that it's point scoring, and it's not like that in real life. That would be insufferable, but that's the kind of shtick that we play, although hopefully there are a few more layers in the show. We niggle each other and I undermine each other."
