Bullock coaxed into acting return

Sandra Bullock wasn't sure if she'd act again

Sandra Bullock has revealed it took a lot to convince her to get back into acting.

The actress was riding high after winning an Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side but her achievement was soon marred by the fact her husband Jesse James was revealed to have been unfaithful.

After the turmoil of the divorce Sandra wasn't sure of ever returning to acting - but changed her mind when Stephen Daldry offered her a part in Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close.

She said: "I honestly didn't think I was in a place where I wanted to work or wanted to step out of where I was. I wasn't prepared. But the opportunity was louder than my head."

In the adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel, Sandra plays the mother of an uncommonly bright, precocious child (played by Thomas Horn), whose father (Tom Hanks) dies on September 11.

Sandra said: "What a great way to get back on the horse. It was hard, but it was what it's supposed to be."

If the 47-year-old was hesitant to return to acting, she's now going full steam ahead, having recently finished shooting the highly anticipated Gravity - a space thriller co-starring George Clooney and directed by Alfonso Cuaron.
