Burrell, Winter at Peabody premiere
Ty Burrell admitted he never thought he would be right for a cartoon as he attended the premiere of Mr Peabody And Sherman in LA.
The Modern Family actor voices accomplished dog Mr Peabody in the animated film, but confessed he previously thought of his voice as "vaguely Frankensteiny".
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "Actually, weirdly enough, my deep voice, which I've had since I was like 12 - imagine trying to, like, flirt with a girl at 12 with this voice - it actually ended up being a benefit for this."
The film is about a time-travelling dog and his adopted boy Sherman, and also stars Ty's Modern Family co-star Ariel Winter as Penny Peterson.
She said: "I love that Penny is sassy, but I also love that all of the characters I'm playing right now are sending out a wonderful message to young girls that education is important, and you can be cool and be smart as well.
"I think that's really important, and I love that about Penny that it really matters."
The film also stars Leslie Mann, Stanley Tucci, Allison Janney, Lake Bell and Max Charles.
