Byrne in talks for Annie remake

Rose Byrne looks set to star in the Annie remake.

The Damages actress is in talks about playing Grace, the assistant of the Daddy Warbucks character, reported Variety.

However, the negotiations with Rose, 33, are said to be in the early stages.

So far a host of big names stars have signed up for the reboot of the classic 1982 movie about orphan Annie.

Cameron Diaz will play mean orphanage manager Miss Hannigan, Beasts Of The Southern Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis has been cast as Annie, and Jamie Foxx who will play a modern reimagining of millionaire adoptive dad Warbucks.

Will Smith and Jay-Z will be among the producers on the remake, and Will Gluck will direct.

Rose has several films coming up, including supernatural horror sequel Insidious: Chapter 2 and the big screen adaptation of Jonathan Tropper's book This Is Where I Leave You.
