Byrne is headed for outer space

Rose Byrne is being eyed to star in space comedy The Something.

The Bridesmaids star could be playing a love interest, who has "an approachable beauty, though she hates being approached", said The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which is about astronauts who get lost in space, would reunite the Australian actress with Bad Neighbours co-star Seth Rogen, who is producing through his company Point Grey Pictures.

Rodney Rothman, formerly head writer on Late Show With David Letterman, is set to direct.

Rose, who earned two Emmy nominations for her drama work on the FX legal thriller Damages, next stars in Will Gluck's Annie remake alongside Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis.

The 34-year-old actress is also starring in Paul Feig's action comedy Spy, alongside Jason Statham, Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law.
