Cage: It sucks being famous now
Nicolas Cage has said he hates being famous.
The star, 50, said he wants actors to be known for their on-screen performances rather than what they get up to behind the scenes.
Speaking at the South By South West festival in Texas, Digital Spy quoted the Leaving Las Vegas star as saying: " I'm not complaining, but it really sucks to be famous right now."
The Captain Corelli's Mandolin actor said he got into acting "before everyone had a thing called a smartphone, and before the advent of the celebutard - just being famous for famous's sake.
"What the hell does Lindsay Lohan's personal life have to do with her performance in The Canyons? It should always be about the work itself," he said.
"In my opinion, I don't want to see personal aspects of someone's life eclipse the work itself."
Nic is at the festival to promote his film Joe, an adaptation of Larry Brown's 1991 novel, with director David Gordon Green.
