Cage joins McTiernan's comeback
Nicolas Cage has signed on for John McTiernan's comeback film, Red Squad, according to reports.
The Ghost Rider star has been cast in an as-yet-unknown role in the action movie, which would be the first film following the director's release from prison in February, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Red Squad is about a director of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), who secretly hires a team of mercenaries to remove a drug cartel from a small town on the border of Mexico and Texas.
John, best known for directing cult action films Die Hard, Predator and The Hunt For Red October, was released from jail after serving a 10-month sentence for lying to the FBI about the Anthony Pellicano wire-tapping case.
The 63-year-old filmmaker, who is also behind other action movies such as Last Action Hero, Die Hard With A Vengeance and The Thomas Crown Affair, previously told Empire magazine that he wrote a follow-up to The Thomas Crown Affair titled Thomas Crown And The Missing Lioness while he was behind bars.
Nicolas' upcoming film roles include action crime thriller Tokarev, apocalyptic biblical thriller Left Behind and action films Outcast and The Dying Of The Light.
