Chastain wants Johansson super film

Scarlett Johansson deserves her own superhero film, Jessica Chastain has said.

Scarlett has appeared in a number of Marvel films as the Black Widow and her spy alter-ego Natasha Romanoff, including Avengers Assemble and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but Jessica reckons it's about time that she got her own big-screen outing.

"Where is the Scarlett Johansson superhero movie? I don't understand it, why is it taking so long for this?" she told The Wrap.

"This woman clearly shows that people want to go see her in the movies. Lucy, didn't it beat Hercules by a lot opening weekend, when it was made for a lot less? She shows that she kicks a**, she's a great actress. Under The Skin is an incredible film, and why are we still waiting for a go-ahead on a superhero movie starring Scarlett Johansson?"

The 37-year-old actress added: "To me, it's a no-brainer. You want to make money, put Scarlett Johansson in a superhero movie!"

Fans have clamoured for Scarlett to get her own film as the Russian heroine, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously hinted it was just finding the time.

"I think it comes down to timing, which is what I've sort of always said, and it comes down to us being able to tell the right story," he told Comic Book Resources.

"I hope we do it sooner rather than later. But we find ourselves in the very strange position of managing more franchises than most people have - which is a very, very good thing and we don't take for granted, but is a challenging thing."
