Christopher Walken has joined the cast of Jason Bateman's new film The Family Fang.

Funnyman Jason will direct and star alongside Nicole Kidman in the film about a brother and sister from a performance artist family whose parents suddenly disappear.

Christopher, 71, will play their father Caleb Fang, according to Screen Daily.

The story has been adapted for the big screen by David Lindsay-Abaire from the novel by Kevin Wilson.

Filming is due to begin in July and the project will be up for sale to studios during the Cannes film festival.

Both Jason and Nicole are among the producers.
