Clarke cast in Terminator reboot

Emilia Clarke has been cast in the Terminator reboot

Emilia Clarke has landed the female lead in the new Terminator film.

The Game Of Thrones actress has been cast as Sarah Connor - the part originally played by Linda Hamilton - after impressing film bosses with her audition.

She beat actresses including Brie Larson and Margot Robbie, who had also been linked to the role in the reboot of the sci-fi franchise, reported Variety.

Alan Taylor, who directed Thor: The Dark World, is already on board to take the reins on the movie, which is expected to be released in summer 2015.

Zero Dark thirty actor Jason Clarke is being eyed to play human resistance leader John Connor.

Garrett Hedlund is said to be in the running to play Kyle Reese, the man who will father John.

Original Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to be back in the new movie. The action star played the cyborg assassin in three films released between 1984 and 2003, but didn't appear in the fourth film, 2009's Terminator Salvation, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington.
