Noel Clarke says working with JJ Abrams on the Star Trek sequel was an education.
The British actor - who next stars in sci-fi thriller Storage 24 - has a role in the forthcoming Star Trek film alongside Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch and Simon Pegg, but while he is unwilling to discuss his character he is more than happy to talk about working with the acclaimed director.
"He's an awesome man, a genius, very funny and very sharp," he said.
"He's a sci-fi head like me, and I love his work. He's very smart and someone you can aspire to be, and learn from. That's what I did."
Noel is rumoured to play a family man in the follow-up.
"You can expect JJ Abrams to have directed another genius movie. You can expect to see Simon Pegg and the regular cast, and you can expect another thrilling ride," he said.
"I can't tell you anything more, not in the slightest, or you could be beamed away."
For the Star Trek fan, the role was a dream come true, yet he's eager to play it down.
"I wouldn't go as far as calling me a Trekkie, because they are dedicated people, but I am definitely a Star Trek fan, so to get a part in that was awesome," Noel said. "I know some people who get a bit hoity-toity and up themselves, because they got a big job, but I would never do that. Today's movie star is tomorrow's bit-part player."
:: Storage 24 opens in cinemas on June 29. Fast Girls is in cinemas now.
