Clarke to join Hardy in Child 44?

Tom Hardy could be joined by Jason Clarke in Child 44

Jason Clarke is the latest star tipped for a role in political murder mystery Child 44, alongside Tom Hardy.

The Zero Dark Thirty actor is in talks about a part in the 1950s Soviet-era thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

The film already boasts a cast that includes Tom, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paddy Considine, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman.

It is adapted from the Tom Rob Smith best-selling novel of the same name and follows a disgraced member of the Soviet Union police (Tom) during the Stalin era.The ex-policeman is investigating a series of child murders that connect to high up members of a political party.

Jason would play a "snaky man named Brodsky" who is accused by Tom's character of being a traitor.

Child 44, which is the first in a trilogy of thrillers, is being directed by Daniel Espinosa.

It is due to be released in 2014.
