Cohen breaks free of Mercury biopic

Sacha Baron Cohen has exited the Freddie Mercury biopic over creative differences.

The Borat star's agent told Variety his client had disagreed with producers over the tone of the film.

Sacha had been set to play Queen frontman Freddie in the film charting his personal life and rise to fame with hits such as We Are The Champions, We Will Rock You and Bohemian Rhapsody.

GK Films is producing the movie in partnership with Robert De Niro's and Jane Rosenthal's Tribeca Prods and Queen Films.

Now, Sacha is said to be concentrating on another upcoming project, an untitled spy spoof which he has written and will star in.

The film is in pre-production at Paramount and Bruno star Sacha is said to be meeting potential directors.

Sacha also makes an appearance later this year in Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
