Cohen will direct Crash Bandits
Rob Cohen is to direct new action adventure film Crash Bandits.
The Fast And The Furious director is attached to work on the film which is being made by Nu Image/Millennium, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Crash Bandits follows two rival treasure hunters who specialise in salvaging plane wrecks and who end up in a race against each other to claim a top haul in the Amazon jungle.
Rob, 64, will rewrite the script which was originally written by Michael Stokes.
The film was going to be produced by Bauer Martinez Studios with John McTiernan on board to direct and Hayden Christensen to star, but never got off the ground.
Rob will be working alongside 300 producer Mark Canton as well as producers Kevin King, Wayne Duband and Johnny Martin.
Last year Rob was reported to be making an action movie based on the life of Isaac Newton as the chief detective and head of the Royal Mint.
He has made a career of working on action films, which include XXX, The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor, Bird On A Wire and The Running Man.
Most recently Rob directed homicide detective tale Alex Cross, starring Tyler Perry, Edward Burns and Matthew Fox.
He will start looking for a new cast for Crash Bandits.
