Co-host Thelma Mansfield in tribute to TV's Derek Davis
Former broadcaster Thelma Mansfield paid an emotional final farewell to her television co-host Derek Davis, recalling his "genius" for telling a story.
Davis, who was born in Bangor, Co Down, and worked as a journalist for BBC Northern Ireland in the early years of his career, died at the age of 67 in Dublin last Wednesday following a cerebral haemorrhage.
Ms Mansfield, who shared the iconic RTE Live at Three sofa with Derek from 1986 to 1997, said she was "in a daze" after seeing him for the last time and said that it had been a privilege to have known her "charming, generous and sweet-hearted" friend.
Mr Davis will be buried in Dublin today.
