Colin Farrell feared being sober
Colin Farrell has confessed he worried giving up alcohol would damage his career.
The 35-year-old Irish actor told US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres he has been sober for seven years but had previously worried quitting partying would effect his acting.
Colin said: "I was terrified because, I'm not saying I was a great actor before or a great actor since, but I was terrified that whatever my capacity was as an actor beforehand, however little or large - it would completely disappear.
"I subscribed to the notion that to be able to express yourself in an artistic form in life, you have to live in perpetual pain. It's nonsense - there's enough pain in the world. If you've any sensitivity to you, you can, with some kind of empathy, feel it. You don't have to live in it to represent it in some artistic way."
The Total Recall star added he has more fun now, and has taken up yoga. He said: "I laugh more and it's easier."
Colin - who has two children from different relationships - also revealed he is single and looking for love.
He said: "I don't have a type. I suppose kindness is kind of nice and sexy."
