Colin Firth to play Oldboy villain?

Colin Firth could play a villain in Oldboy

Colin Firth may be casting aside his regal robes to play a villain in the Oldboy remake.

The King's Speech star, who was previously attached to Park Chan-wook's English language film Stoker, could be dirtying his nice guy image by playing the baddie Adrian in the Hollywood version of the Korean thriller, reported Twitchfilm.com.

Oscar nominee Josh Brolin is already on board as the protagonist, a man who spends 15 years in solitary confinement without any explanation after being kidnapped on his daughter's birthday, and upon his release, sets out to take revenge on the people who destroyed his life.

Colin's character is the man who sets up the calculated string of events.

Written by Mark Protosevich and based on Park's original 2003 cult classic and the Japanese book, the upcoming remake is scheduled to start in spring 2012.
