Mortal Instruments stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower have revealed that they are still good friends, despite their romantic split.

The couple, who play the lead characters in the big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's books, walked up the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of their new film The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones separately, but only had praise for each other.

"Jamie's awesome," the actress told E! News.

Jamie, who portrays shadowhunter Jace Wayland, added: "We're tight. Lily and I are very, very close. Very close. Always have been, always will be."

Lily, who plays Clary Fray, admitted that the buzz surrounding her co-star has been "crazy".

"We had one girl faint for Jamie. It's been quite mental. We've had babies named after Jace, we've had real rune tattoos and it's people that are buying the tickets. That's like the best interaction that you can have," she continued.

She added: "Of course they're gonna faint over Jamie. He's Jace reincarnated. It's like, why wouldn't you faint?"

The pair were first romantically linked in July 2012 while filming The Mortal Instruments in Toronto, and were seen holding hands as they left a Philadelphia shopping centre last week, days before reportedly ending their relationship.

A source said that they remain "very good friends," and have been able to maintain an amicable relationship as they continue on the publicity trail for the movie, which will open in UK cinemas on August 21.
