Cooper drops hints on Spider-Man 2

Chris Cooper has teased that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will "lead to something more".

The 62-year-old, who will play Norman Osborn in the upcoming sequel, also hinted that he may return to the role for a third instalment. Osborn, played by Willem Dafoe in the previous film series, later becomes Spider-Man's arch-nemesis Green Goblin.

"Spider-Man 2 was an introduction to Norman. And - you'll see - an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more," he told MTV News.

Chris, who remained tight-lipped about the rest of the plot, will star in the upcoming film alongside Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

Jamie Foxx will portray villain Electro, while Paul Giamatti is a Russian mobster known as The Rhino.

There are rumours that the film would introduce the formation of the Sinister Six - a group of Marvel supervillains. The original group included Electro, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and Vulture.

Chris said he was "vaguely" aware of the direction the filmmakers are taking the franchise.

"They sent me some material. But they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We're just kind of starting from the beginning," he added.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be out in May 2014.
