Corden to play BGT winner Potts

James Corden is to play BGT winner Paul Potts in a film of his life

James Corden is returning to the big screen to portray Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

The stage star - who picked up a Tony award for his Broadway performance in One Man, Two Guv'nors last week - has been cast by Oscar-winning film boss Harvey Weinstein to star in One Chance.

"Hot off James's Tony win, we can't wait to get started," Harvey told the Daily Mail.

One Chance, which is written and directed by The Devil Wears Prada's David Frankel , follows the telephone-salesman-turned-tenor's story as he overcomes the obstacles to get his singing career off the ground, before entering the first series of the ITV1 talent competition, which he won.

"James is a brilliant actor and a wonderful comedian and we're excited to be working with him - and David - on this inspiring true story," added Harvey, who has produced Shakespeare In Love, The Artist and Gangs Of New York.

Shooting is scheduled to start in London around October.

James is no stranger to the big screen, following his roles in The Three Musketeers, The History Boys and Gulliver's Travels.
