Costner 'to take Criminal role'

Kevin Costner looks set to play a ruthless killer in a new sci-fi thriller.

The 59-year-old actor - who has recently been showing off his range in darker projects such as Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Three Days To Kill - is in talks about the lead role in Criminal, reported Variety.

He would star as a crook who agrees to take part in a medical experiment rather than go to prison.

A dead CIA agent's skills and memories are then implanted into his brain, with the government hoping he will complete the operative's unfinished mission.

Director Ariel Vromen will be at the helm of Criminal.

Kevin's other upcoming films include dramas McFarland and Black And White.
