Cruise to the rescue on film set

Tom Cruise apparently put his jet on stand-by after a crew member was injured

Tom Cruise got his private jet ready for action after a crew member was injured on the set of new film Oblivion.

A British driver was crushed by a 50-stone weight on the US set of the new sci-fi action flick, so the Rock Of Ages star had his pilot get the Gulfstream V jet ready to go just in case, the Daily Mirror reported.

Tom apparently later paid a visit to the crew member - known only as David - in hospital in Louisiana, where he was in intensive care for four days.

Tom plays a veteran soldier sent to a far-off planet to obliterate an alien race in Oblivion, which also stars Andrea Riseborough, Morgan Freeman, and Oscar-winner Melissa Leo.
