Cumberbatch climbs Blood Mountain
Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star in thriller Blood Mountain.
The Sherlock star is "attached" to take a role in the upcoming film, to be directed by Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov, reported Variety.
The tense thriller, which has been written by Jonathan W Stokes and John Romano, focuses on a private military contractor who has to escort one of the world's most wanted terrorists over hostile terrain in order to bring him to justice. He has to carry this out on his own, after his team is ambushed and killed during a raid, but with a bounty at stake and insurgents and rival mercenaries hunting them, the pair have to fight for survival.
Production is expected to begin in Morocco in April.
Benedict, whose recent big-screen outings include August: Osage County and 12 Years A Slave, will reprise his dual role as Smaug and The Necromancer in the third Hobbit film, There And Back Again. He will also star as codebreaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game and play Percy Fawcett in The Lost City Of Z movie.
