Cumberbatch in dark with Star Trek

Benedict Cumberbatch is a fan of JJ Abrams

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he hasn't seen the finished version of Star Trek Into Darkness yet.

The British actor, who stars in the sci-fi sequel alongside Chris Pine, Simon Pegg and Zachary Quinto, admitted that he can't wait to watch it.

"I'm really excited about seeing the film. I haven't seen the whole film yet so I'm in the same situation as a lot of fans. Anticipation is where I'm at with that one," he said.

Benedict is keeping tight-lipped about the film, which has been directed by JJ Abrams.

"It's a rollicking summer film which has heart and soul, and a depth to detail that will keep you glued to your seat and caring about the thrills and spills on the Imax 3D experience," he teased.

He does, however, heap praise on the filmmaker, saying: "He's fantastic. I love him to bits. It was a real treat.

"He is a lovely human being and just super talented, ridiculously talented. He's not a dilettante, he's sort of a polymath. Anything he turns his hand to, he seems to conquer and master. And he's ridiculously charming, smart and a really good person as well," he added.

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to open in UK cinemas on May 9.
